Straight-flute hand tap cuts 1"-14 UNS threads with a bottoming chamfer and four flutes in high-speed steel
The Cleveland C54935 is a straight flute hand tap designed for cutting internal threads in a variety of materials. It features a 1"-14 UNS thread size with a bottoming chamfer and four flutes for efficient chip evacuation. The tool is manufactured from high speed steel with a bright uncoated finish. It suits machinists and maintenance technicians creating new threads or repairing damaged ones in through or blind holes.
A bottoming tap cuts threads close to the bottom of a blind hole where a taper or plug tap cannot reach. The jump is worth it when existing taps leave incomplete threads at the hole base or when thread limit H4 and class of fit 2B are required for the application. The high speed steel construction resists wear better than carbon steel alternatives during repeated hand-tapping operations.
Confirm the drilled hole diameter matches the 1"-14 UNS specification before ordering. The 5 1/8 inch overall length and 2 1/2 inch thread length must suit the workpiece thickness and hole depth. Ensure the material being tapped is suitable for high speed steel tools and that right-hand threading matches the assembly requirements.

Use a wrench that accepts a 1"-14 tap shank; the square drive on the tap matches standard large-hand-tap holders.
Begin with a taper or plug tap to cut the first threads, then switch to this bottoming tap to reach full depth.
Replace it when threads feel loose in a 2B gauge or when the flutes no longer clear chips cleanly.
