What it is

The CLIKBUTM WP08-R is a wireless presentation clicker with a red laser pointer designed for controlling slides from up to 100 feet away. It connects via a USB dongle that stores inside the remote and works with Windows, Mac OS and Linux without installing any drivers. The unit weighs 38 grams with the included AAA battery and measures 109 millimetres in length.

Who it suits and who it does not

Presenters, teachers and speakers who need a lightweight, plug-and-play remote for PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides and PDF viewers will find it simple to use. The ergonomic shape and stored dongle make it easy to carry in a pocket or bag. Users who require a green laser, rechargeable power, Bluetooth connectivity or a built-in timer display should look at other models because this clicker uses a single AAA alkaline cell and a radio-frequency link only.

Deciding specification

The clicker operates on a radio-frequency link rated for 100 feet of range and is powered by one AAA battery that lasts roughly two months of typical use. The USB receiver nests inside the battery compartment so there are no separate parts to lose. Compatibility covers Windows 2003 through 10, Mac OS and Linux across common presentation software.
