What the Clover Video Doorbell G4 Does

The Clover Video Doorbell G4 is a 1080p wireless surveillance camera with a chime included. It captures video at 20 frames per second and uses local AI face recognition to reduce false alerts. The doorbell works with Apple HomeKit Secure Video, Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT. It suits homeowners who want a battery-powered or wired entrance camera with multi-ecosystem support.

Power and Storage Limits

The doorbell runs on six included 1.5V AA batteries or on existing 12-24V AC and 8-24V DC doorbell wiring. Continuous 24/7 recording is only available in wired mode and requires a microSD card up to 512 GB fitted in the chime. Event-based cloud storage covers up to 7 days without subscription fees. Local NAS storage via Samba is also supported when a compatible card and software are present.

Build and Daily Implications

The main module measures 5.57 x 2.56 x 1.20 inches and is rated for outdoor humidity. A shaded porch installation is recommended for best battery life. The chime repeater holds the microSD card so footage cannot be removed from outside. Face-recognition automations continue to work locally even when the internet connection is down.

Questions about this item

Should I run the G4 on the included battery pack or wire it to my existing doorbell circuit?

The included 6 AA 1.5 V batteries give long life for wire-free installs, while wiring to 12-24 V AC or 8-24 V DC enables 24/7 recording and removes battery changes.

What does the 1080p 20 fps rating actually look like on my phone or smart display?

You get full HD video at 20 frames per second, so motion stays smooth and faces stay recognisable on Apple Home, Alexa or Google smart displays.

My chime repeater takes a microSD card — what capacity limit and file system should I expect?

The chime accepts cards up to 512 GB for local event or continuous recording, and the doorbell also supports NAS storage via Samba when a card is present.
