What this scanner does

The Cognex DMR-8600-0100 is a USB Type A handheld barcode scanner built for retail, warehouse and logistics workflows. It connects directly to a host computer and captures 1D and 2D codes in a single pass. The unit is supplied new and carries a 90-day seller warranty.

Who should buy it and who should not

This scanner suits operators who need a tethered, plug-and-play device for point-of-sale or inventory stations. It is not for teams that require wireless freedom, Bluetooth pairing or a presentation-style hands-free mount. Buyers needing industrial-grade drop ratings beyond the standard specification should look elsewhere.

The deciding specification

The USB Type A interface is the single detail that determines compatibility. If the host system only offers USB-C, a separate adapter or hub is required before the scanner will operate.

Questions about this item

Which version of the DMR-8600-0100 should I choose for a USB Type A connection?

What does the 8600 model number mean for daily scanning performance?

The 8600 identifies this Cognex handheld scanner model; it does not represent a speed or range figure.

How does the USB Type A interface limit the scanner's data rate in practice?

USB Type A provides a standard wired connection for reliable data transfer without wireless latency.
