Targeted upgrade for ASRock X99M boards

This 32 GB kit (2 x 16 GB) is built specifically for the ASRock Fatal1ty X99M Killer, Fatal1ty X99M Killer/3.1, X99 Extreme3 and X99M Extreme4 motherboards. It delivers registered ECC DDR4 memory for systems that require error correction and signal buffering. The modules are validated for these four board models only.

Registered ECC with CL17 timing

Each DIMM runs at DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) with a CAS latency of 17-17-17 at 1.2 V. The registered design places a buffer on the command bus, which is mandatory for the supported X99M platforms. Mixing with unbuffered or non-ECC modules will prevent the system from posting.

Two-slot kit leaves two slots open

The package contains two 288-pin DIMMs, occupying half of the four available memory sockets on the compatible boards. This leaves room to reach the platform maximum of 64 GB by adding two more identical registered ECC modules. The memory will clock down automatically to match the installed processor.

Questions about this item

What does the DDR4 2400 speed mean once the modules are installed in the ASRock X99 board?

The kit runs at 2400 MHz with CL17 timing, delivering the rated DDR4-19200 data rate when the platform supports it.

How does the ECC registered design affect the memory interface on these boards?

ECC and registered operation add error correction and signal buffering, which the X99 chipset uses for stable multi-DIMM configs.

What physical clearance do the 288-pin DIMMs need in the Fatal1ty X99M Killer?

Each stick is a standard 288-pin DDR4 DIMM without a heat spreader, so it fits the board's four memory sockets directly.
