Surveillance camera for outdoor areas

The COP SECURITY INS-D1200W is a vandal-proof dome camera built for outdoor monitoring. It uses a 1/3" Sony 1.3MP image sensor to capture 720P video at 1000 TVL resolution. The die-cast aluminium housing provides weatherproof protection. This unit suits installers who need a durable, fixed-position camera with manual zoom control.

Upgrade from fixed-lens analog cameras

The 2.8-12mm manual zoom lens replaces fixed focal lengths by letting installers adjust the field of view on site. The jump is worth it when a single camera must cover both wide entrances and narrow corridors without repositioning. Support for 960H recording preserves detail on compatible DVRs. Buyers who need motorised remote zoom or higher megapixel counts should look elsewhere.

Integration into CCTV systems

The camera connects to standard analogue DVRs using coaxial cable and requires a separate 12 V DC power supply. Its 36 IR illuminators deliver night vision up to 75 ft, with supplier data noting illumination reach of 90 ft in low light. The three-axis bracket simplifies ceiling or wall mounting. Automatic white balance, backlight compensation, auto gain control and wide dynamic range handle varying lighting without extra configuration.

Questions about this item

What ceiling opening diameter does the vandal-proof dome require for flush mounting?

The die-cast aluminium housing is built for surface or pendant mounting; no specific cut-out diameter is published.

Which step is commonly missed when aiming the 2.8-12 mm manual zoom lens?

Installers often forget to re-focus after setting the focal length, leaving the 1.3 MP image soft at the chosen zoom.

How do I know when the 36 IR LEDs are starting to fade after extended night use?

Night footage will lose detail beyond the 75 ft / 90 ft illumination range, signalling the IR array needs replacement.
