Lavalier condenser microphone with 3.5 mm jack

The Corn Electronics EY-510A is a wired clip-on microphone designed for hands-free voice capture. Its omnidirectional condenser element picks up sound from every direction. A 1.45 m cable and 360 degree rotary clip let you attach it to a collar, tie or pocket. The package includes a 4-pole to 3-pole adapter for use with computers and DSLR cameras.

Passive condenser element requires no battery

The microphone draws plug-in power from the host device through the 3.5 mm TRS connection. With a sensitivity of -30 dB ±2 dB at 2.2 kΩ and 3 V, it delivers a clear signal without an external power supply. A foam windscreen reduces wind and breath noise during recording. The lightweight 20.5 g build adds minimal strain during long sessions.

Upgrades from built-in device microphones

Built-in laptop or phone mics often sound distant and pick up keyboard or handling noise. This lavalier places the capsule close to the mouth for a stronger voice signal and less room ambience. The jump is worth it for video meetings, voice-over work or mobile recording where clarity matters more than the convenience of an internal mic.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the 3.5 mm plug to a computer with separate mic and headphone ports?

Plug the microphone into the supplied 4-pole to 3-pole adapter, then insert the adapter's pink mic connector into the computer's microphone jack.

What part will I need to replace first with regular use?

The foam windscreen is the only consumable; it can be swapped when it deteriorates or gets dirty.

At what point does the 145 cm cable become a limitation during long sessions?

The fixed 145 cm length restricts how far you can move from the recording device, so positioning the recorder within that radius is the practical limit.
