Corn Electronics LifeCam C615 720p Webcam

The Corn Electronics LifeCam C615 is a 720p webcam designed for desktop or laptop video calling and recording. It connects via a USB 2.0 interface and uses a CMOS sensor to capture widescreen video at 1280 x 720 resolution. A built-in noise-cancelling microphone handles audio without a separate headset.

Suits users needing simple 720p video on Windows

This webcam suits users who want plug-and-play 720p video on Windows 7, 8, 10 or later, or on Mac OS 10.6 and newer in UVC mode. It is not for buyers who require higher video resolutions or frame rates than 720p at 30 fps. It also does not suit setups that lack a USB 2.0 port.

1280 x 720 resolution at 30 fps decides fit

The single specification that determines whether this is the right part is the maximum video capture resolution of 1280 x 720 at 30 frames per second. If your application needs that exact resolution and frame rate, the LifeCam C615 matches the requirement. If you need a different resolution or frame rate, this model will not match.

Questions about this item

Does the CMOS sensor or the five-layer glass lens need periodic cleaning or replacement?

The CMOS sensor is sealed inside the unit and the five-layer glass lens has no moving parts, so neither component requires scheduled cleaning or replacement under normal use.

What limits continuous recording at 1280 x 720 resolution and 30 fps?

The USB 2.0 interface caps sustained bandwidth, so extended captures are bounded by that bus rather than by the sensor or frame-rate setting.

How much heat or fan noise does the webcam produce during all-day video calls?

The device draws power only from the USB 2.0 port, has no internal fan, and runs cool enough for continuous desktop or laptop mounting without audible noise.
