CyberData Corporation 011187 VoIP 2-Port PoE Gigabit Switch

Purpose-built VoIP expansion

The CyberData 011187 adds two powered Ethernet ports to a single PoE uplink for IP phones or endpoints. It draws 802.3at or 802.3af power from the upstream switch and forwards it downstream without a separate supply. The compact unit weighs .4 and includes a USB-B port for management access. Installers needing more drops than the infrastructure provides will find it useful.

Sustained PoE delivery

The switch passes through whatever budget the upstream port negotiates, so total downstream draw cannot exceed that single source. Under continuous load both ports share the same 802.3at or 802.3af pool rather than offering independent budgets. No active cooling is present, so extended high utilisation relies on passive dissipation alone. Buyers who need guaranteed per-port power regardless of neighbour demand cannot rely on this architecture.

Plug-and-play with one caveat

Connect the uplink to a compliant PoE switch, then attach up to two devices — no software configuration is required for basic operation. The USB-B console gives access to status LEDs and diagnostics if troubleshooting is needed. A common mistake is exceeding the upstream power budget, which causes ports to shut down or negotiate lower class. Sites lacking 802.3at or 802.3af infrastructure cannot use this unit at all.
