A 5-port unmanaged switch connects up to five wired devices at 10/100 Mbps with auto-negotiation and energy-efficient operation
The D-Link DES-1005E is an unmanaged desktop switch with five RJ45 ports that operate at 10/100 Mbps. It suits home offices or small businesses that need a simple way to connect up to five wired devices such as PCs, printers or network storage. The metal enclosure can sit on a desk or be wall-mounted. No configuration is required.
Every port supports IEEE 802.3 and 802.3u standards with auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX crossover, so straight-through or crossover cables work interchangeably. Full-duplex operation yields up to 200 Mbps per port while the 2K MAC address table and 96 KB buffer handle traffic using store-and-forward switching. IEEE 802.3az Energy-Efficient Ethernet reduces power draw when links are idle.
The bundle supplies a 5 V 0.55 A DC adapter, so the unit draws only 0.6 W on standby and 3.3 W at maximum load from the DC side. Per-port LEDs show link, activity and speed while a single power LED confirms the adapter is live. Buyers who need Gigabit throughput or managed features such as VLANs or QoS should choose a different model.

Each of the five RJ45 ports can send and receive simultaneously at up to 200 Mbps, so a file transfer between two connected PCs can run at full Fast Ethernet speed without collisions.
The switch follows IEEE 802.3 10BASE-T and IEEE 802.3u 100BASE-TX, so maximum wired throughput is capped at 100 Mbps per direction per port.
The unit measures 2.34" x 1.07" x 4.09" and is designed for desktop use or wall mounting with the included slots.
