Fan Extension Cable

The Darkside DS-0246 is a 40cm 3-pin fan extension cable finished in a Red UV reactive sleeve. It connects a standard three-pin fan header to a matching fan plug, adding reach inside a chassis. The cable is aimed at builders who want to route a single fan farther from the motherboard or fan controller without changing the connector type.

Build Integration

The extension plugs directly between an existing 3-pin header and the fan, requiring no adapters or soldering. Its 40cm length helps bridge gaps in larger cases or behind motherboard trays where stock leads fall short. It does not add PWM control, so fans plugged through it will run on voltage regulation only.

UV Reactive Sleeving

The custom high-density sleeve glows under ultraviolet light, making the cable visible in windowed builds that use UV lighting. The red colour remains visible in normal light, aiding cable identification during assembly. No software, controllers or additional connectors are included with the cable.

Questions about this item

How much extra length does the 40 cm cable add to a 3-pin fan connection?

The sleeve extends 40 cm between the male and female 3-pin connectors, giving 16 inches of reach for case routing.

Does the UV-reactive red sleeve add measurable heat or resistance to the 3-pin line?

The custom HD sleeve is purely cosmetic; it carries no active electronics and does not change voltage drop or temperature on the fan circuit.

What connector gender must the existing fan header and fan plug be for this DS-0246 cable to fit?

One end is a 3-pin male that plugs into the motherboard header, the other end is a 3-pin female that accepts the fan's own 3-pin plug.
