The Datalogic Heron HD3130-BKK1B is a corded handheld barcode reader built for point-of-sale environments. It uses a CCD linear imager to capture 1D codes and includes a USB cable with a stand for hands-free operation. The scanner supports RS-232, USB and keyboard wedge interfaces for broad system compatibility.

Scan Depth Limited by Symbol Density

Reading distance changes with the printed barcode resolution and ambient conditions. At 5 mils the scanner works from 5.0 to 15.0 cm, at 10 mils from 2.0 to 35.0 cm and at 13 mils from 2.0 to 40 cm. Minimum distance is also affected by symbol length and scan angle, so very small or poorly printed codes may not read at the closest range.

0.100 mm Resolution Defines Code Compatibility

The imager resolves elements down to 0.100 mm (4 mils), which determines the smallest 1D barcode it can reliably decode. Buyers needing to scan 2D codes such as QR or Data Matrix, or who require wireless mobility, should select a different scanner type.
