2 HP Capacitor-Start/Run Motor

The Dayton 119179.00 is a single-phase general-purpose motor rated at 2 hp. It operates on 115/208-230V AC at 60 Hz and delivers a nameplate speed of 1,725 RPM. The 56C frame with C-face rigid base suits horizontal mounting in industrial equipment.

Thermals and Power Draw

Continuous duty cycle is supported up to a maximum ambient temperature of 40 degrees C. Insulation class B and a 1.15 service factor provide margin during sustained operation. Full-load current measures 17.6 A at 115V or 9.5 to 8.8 A at 208-230V. No internal thermal protection is fitted.

Accessories and Compliance

The open drip-proof enclosure and reversible CW/CCW rotation ship as configured; no extra capacitors, switches or mounting hardware are included. California Proposition 65 warnings apply for cancer and reproductive harm. The motor is usable at 208V and restricted from sale in no listed states.

Questions about this item

How do I wire the 115/208-230V dual-voltage motor for my supply voltage?

Connect the motor leads per the nameplate diagram for either 115 V or 208-230 V operation; the 56C frame uses standard NEMA terminal markings.

What routine maintenance does the open drip-proof 2 hp motor require?

Periodically clean dust from the open vents and inspect the capacitor and centrifugal switch; the bearings are sealed and need no lubrication.

At what ambient temperature does the Class B insulation reach its limit during continuous duty?

The motor is rated for a maximum ambient temperature of 40 °C with a 1.15 service factor on continuous duty.
