Cable specifications

This Dayton vinyl coated cable has a 3/32 inch overall diameter and a 1/16 inch cable diameter. It uses a 7 x 7 strand construction with a galvanised steel wire rope and an IWRC core. The reel provides 500 feet of silver coloured cable.

Working load and upgrades

The working load limit is 96 pounds and the breaking strength is 480 pounds force. This cable replaces thinner or uncoated lines where higher abrasion resistance is needed. The jump is worth it when lifting loads near the 96 pound limit or when vinyl protection extends service life in outdoor conditions.

Setup checks

Verify the 3/32 inch overall diameter fits your pulleys, winches or guides. Confirm the 96 pound working load limit matches the intended lifting task. Note the product contains chemicals listed under California Proposition 65 for cancer and reproductive harm.

Questions about this item

What diameter hole or fitting does the 3/32 in. overall diameter cable need?

The cable has a 3/32 in. overall diameter with vinyl coating over a 1/16 in. galvanised steel core, so size any pulley, fairlead or clamp for the 3/32 in. outer dimension.

How do I terminate the plain ends on this 7 x 7 vinyl coated cable, and what mistake should I avoid?

Use 1/16 in. wire rope clips or swage sleeves matched to the steel core; do not size fittings to the 3/32 in. vinyl jacket or the connection will slip under the 96 lb working load limit.

When should I replace this 500 ft. vinyl coated galvanised cable?

Inspect regularly and replace if the vinyl coating is cracked, the galvanised steel shows corrosion, or any broken wires appear in the 7 x 7 strands, as these reduce the 480 lbf breaking strength.
