Three-phase 2 HP motor for industrial fans

The Dayton 31TU27 is a three-phase general-purpose motor rated at 2 HP with a nameplate speed of 3,515 RPM. It suits fan installations that require continuous duty in a 60 Hz environment.

Voltage and thermal limits define where it fits

Dual-voltage windings accept 208-230 V or 460 V AC, drawing 5.0 A at the lower voltage and 2.5 A at the higher. Class F insulation supports a maximum ambient temperature of 104 °F, and the open dripproof enclosure offers no protection against water ingress or dust.

Face and base mounting with a keyed shaft

The 143-5TC/56HCZ frame provides both face and base mounting options in any orientation. A keyed shaft accommodates pulleys or couplings, while the lack of built-in thermal protection means external overload devices must be supplied by the installer.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 208-230 V or 460 V wiring for my supply?

The motor is dual-voltage; connect it for 230 V operation drawing 5.0 A or for 460 V drawing 2.5 A, matching your available three-phase service.

What does the 2 HP rating deliver on the shaft at 3,515 RPM?

At full load the motor produces 2 hp at 3,515 rpm with a 1.15 service factor, suitable for continuous duty in fan applications.

Will the 143-5TC/56HCZ frame and keyed shaft fit my existing fan mount?

The NEMA 143-5TC face and 56HCZ base with a keyed shaft accept standard C-face couplings and foot mounting used on many industrial fans.
