Cable construction and lifting use

The 7 x 19 galvanized steel rope has a vinyl coating that brings the overall diameter to 5/16 in. It is rated for a working load limit of 840 lb and a breaking strength of 4,200 lbf. The 500 ft length suits winch, hoist or general rigging tasks where a coated cable is specified.

Handling and installation notes

Supplied on a plain reel with no end fittings, the cable must be cut and terminated on site with appropriate clips or thimbles. The vinyl coating can mask surface corrosion so inspect the full length before first use. Unlubricated construction means it will run stiffer than oiled rope until it beds in.

Compatibility checks before ordering

Verify that the 3/16 in core diameter matches the groove profile of your sheaves or drum. Confirm the 840 lb working load limit covers the maximum intended load including dynamic factors. Ensure the operating environment stays within the unspecified temperature range for vinyl-coated steel.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 7 x 19 strand construction is intact after unspooling the 500 ft reel?

Inspect a cut end; you should count seven outer strands each made of nineteen wires, matching the 7 x 19 classification shown in the specifications.

What comes with the 500 ft vinyl-coated cable and what must be sourced separately?

The reel supplies 500 ft of 3/16 in galvanised steel cable with clear vinyl coating; end fittings, thimbles, clips or sleeves are not included and must be purchased separately.

Which diameter and length combination should I select for a working load of 840 lb?

The listed 3/16 in diameter by 500 ft length carries an 840 lb working load limit and 4,200 lbf breaking strength, so choose this version for that capacity.
