Motor Starter Enclosure NEMA 4

The Dayton 6FZJ6 is a steel motor starter enclosure rated NEMA 4 for protection against water ingress and dust. It supports a 25 A starter compatible with Dayton IEC contactors and measures 8.48 in high, 5.66 in wide and 5.31 in deep. The transparent cover allows visual inspection of internal components without opening the enclosure.

Transparent cover and California warnings

The transparent cover lets operators confirm contactor status at a glance, reducing the need to open the enclosure during routine checks. California Proposition 65 notices indicate the product contains chemicals known to the state to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm, so appropriate handling precautions apply.

Panel-mount installation and clearance

The enclosure is designed for panel mounting with the listed overall dimensions, so installers must verify that the 8.48 in height, 5.66 in width and 5.31 in depth fit the available space. Misalignment of mounting holes or insufficient clearance for wiring often causes delays during commissioning.

Questions about this item

Will the steel enclosure or its transparent cover need periodic replacement due to wear?

The enclosure is built from steel with a NEMA 4 rating and a transparent cover; no replacement schedule is indicated for either component.

What is the first limitation reached when the starter runs continuously at its 25 A rating?

The unit is rated for 25 A within a NEMA 4 steel enclosure measuring 8.48 in high, 5.66 in wide and 5.31 in deep; sustained operation at that current is the design limit.

How much heat or noise does the enclosure produce during all-day operation?

The steel NEMA 4 enclosure itself generates no noise or heat; any thermal or acoustic output comes from the contactor installed inside it.
