A mechanical line-voltage thermostat for cooling-only control between 50 and 90 °F on 120 to 277 VAC circuits with a 22 A rating
The Dayton 6GVX8C is a single-pole mechanical thermostat that closes on temperature rise to control cooling equipment. It operates directly on 120 to 277 VAC without a separate transformer and handles a 22 A full-load at both 120 and 240 VAC. The control range spans 50 to 90 degrees F with a 2 to 4 degree differential. It suits installers who need a simple, non-programmable switch for direct line-voltage cooling loads.
Earlier single-voltage models force a choice between 120 VAC and 240 VAC stock, while this unit covers the full 120 to 277 VAC range in one device. The jump is worth it when a job site may see either supply and you want one part number on the truck. It does not add programmability, remote sensing or heating control, so buyers who want scheduling or a remote bulb should look elsewhere.
At 4 3/4 in high, 2 3/4 in wide and 1 1/2 in deep, the housing mounts in common enclosures and eliminates the need for a separate 24 VAC transformer and relay. The SPST switch action closes on rise, wiring directly into the cooling circuit. Installers must verify the 22 A rating matches the connected load and that the 2 to 4 degree differential meets the application tolerance.

The unit measures 4 3/4 inches high, 2 3/4 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches deep, so allow that footprint plus wiring space inside the enclosure.
Connect line and load conductors to the two switch terminals; the thermostat interrupts the hot leg when the set-point between 50 and 90 °F is reached.
Verify calibration annually by comparing the switch action to a reference thermometer; replace the thermostat if the differential exceeds the 2 to 4 °F range.
