A 3 HP single-phase capacitor-start/run motor delivers extra high torque at 1,760 RPM for continuous farm duty in a totally enclosed fan-cooled 184T frame
The Dayton 6K881 is a single-phase capacitor-start/run motor rated at 3 HP and 230V AC. It is built for continuous duty on farm equipment and similar demanding applications where high starting torque is required. The 184T frame and rigid base mounting suit horizontal installation on a fixed foundation.
The motor uses Class F insulation and is rated for a maximum ambient temperature of 40 Degrees C. A manual thermal protector helps prevent damage from overload conditions. At full load it draws 17.0 A with a 1.15 service factor providing a margin above nameplate rating. The totally enclosed fan-cooled enclosure keeps internal components clean during operation.
The rigid base design requires a solid, level surface and horizontal mounting orientation. Rotation can be set to clockwise or counter-clockwise to match the driven equipment. A single speed of 1,760 RPM at 60 Hz delivers consistent output for pumps, compressors or conveyors. Buyers needing vertical mounting or a different frame size should look elsewhere.

Connect the 230 V supply to the terminal box per the wiring diagram, verify the capacitor leads match the start/run terminals, and confirm the shaft turns CW/CCW as required; the step often missed is securing the ground lug before energising.
Periodically clean the fan cover and cooling fins to maintain airflow at the 40 °C max ambient, check the manual thermal reset after any overload, and re-lubricate the bearings if the manufacturer specifies intervals.
The 17.0 A full-load current combined with the 1.15 service factor means winding temperature will hit the Class F insulation limit before mechanical wear becomes an issue.
