1.2TB 10K RPM SAS enterprise drive

This 2.5-inch internal hard drive delivers 1.2TB of storage on a 6Gb/s SAS interface. It spins at 10000 RPM with a 64MB buffer and ships new with an R Series caddy. The unit is built for enterprise server and storage arrays that require a SAS connection.

Suits SAS bays needing 10K speed

Buyers with 2.5-inch SAS drive bays and a 6Gb/s controller will find the rated spindle speed and buffer match typical enterprise workloads. Systems limited to a different physical connector or a slower signalling rate cannot use this drive. The included caddy fits Dell R Series hot-swap trays.

6Gb/s SAS interface decides fit

The single specification that determines compatibility is the 6Gb/s SAS interface. A backplane or controller must support this exact signalling standard for the drive to operate. No other interface type is supported by this unit.

Questions about this item

Does the 0B28470 drive ship with the R Series caddy or tray, or must I buy a bracket separately?

The drive includes the R Series caddy/tray in the box, so no separate bracket is required for installation.

Should I choose the HUC101212CSS600 model for a 2.5 inch SAS bay that needs 10000RPM performance?

Yes, the HUC101212CSS600 is a 2.5 inch SAS drive spinning at 10000RPM with a 64MB buffer, matching that requirement.

What does the 6Gb/s SAS interface mean for actual throughput inside my server?

The 6Gb/s SAS link provides a maximum interface bandwidth of 6Gb/s; sustained transfer will be limited by the 10000RPM mechanics and 64MB cache.
