Dell Latitude 7490 for everyday work

This 14.0 inch laptop runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-8350U processor at 1.70GHz with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SATA SSD. It suits office professionals and students who need a reliable machine for documents, web browsing and video calls. The integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics handle standard business applications. Buyers who want more storage or discrete graphics for heavy creative work should look elsewhere.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The solid-state drive has no moving parts, so the system runs silently during file access and boot. Integrated graphics keep heat output modest for typical productivity tasks such as email, spreadsheets and streaming. The 1.70GHz processor balances performance with efficiency to support mobile use. No fan specifications or power-draw figures are provided in the data.

Bundled accessories and software impact

The package includes an AC adapter for immediate charging. Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit is pre-installed, providing BitLocker encryption and remote-desktop features for business environments. Built-in webcam, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support video conferencing and peripheral connectivity without extra dongles. The non-touch FHD screen keeps the focus on keyboard-and-trackpad workflows.

Questions about this item

How is the 512GB SATA M.2 SSD installed, and what step do people get wrong?

The drive slots into the internal M.2 connector at a shallow angle, then is secured with a single screw. The common mistake is forgetting that screw, which leaves the SSD loose and can cause detection errors.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 16GB SODIMM DDR4 modules can be swapped for higher-capacity sticks up to the 32GB maximum if workloads grow. No routine memory maintenance is required beyond keeping the cooling vents clear of dust.

What limit appears first on the Intel UHD 620 graphics under sustained load?

The integrated Intel UHD 620 shares system memory and thermal headroom with the i5-8350U, so prolonged 3D or video work hits thermal throttling before the GPU reaches its own frequency ceiling.
