The Lenovo ThinkPad T490 is a 14-inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8365U processor with four cores running at 1.6 GHz up to 4.1 GHz. It comes with 16GB of DDR4-2400 memory and a 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 1920 x 1080 IPS display offers 300 nits brightness and anti-glare coating. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visuals. Best for mobile professionals needing a 14" screen

This configuration suits professionals who want a 14-inch form factor with a quad-core processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe SSD for everyday productivity. The 300-nit anti-glare IPS panel works well in varied lighting. Buyers who need a larger display, discrete graphics for heavy rendering, or more than 256GB of fast storage should consider other options.

256GB PCIe NVMe SSD capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD. It determines how many applications and local files you can keep on the fastest internal storage. If your workflow demands more onboard capacity, this unit will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

Will the 14" FHD IPS 300 nits display and USB-C ports work with my older ThinkPad dock and external monitors?

The 14.0" 1920 x 1080 IPS panel at 300 nits connects via USB-C Alt Mode so existing ThinkPad USB-C docks and monitors will drive the screen without extra adapters.

How can I verify the Intel Core i5-8365U is boosting to 4.1 GHz and the 16GB DDR4-2400 is running at rated speed after setup?

Open Task Manager Performance tab to confirm the i5-8365U hits 4.1 GHz under load and that memory shows 2400 MT/s; Intel UHD Graphics 620 should also appear as the active GPU.

Does the box include a charger and are the 256GB NVMe SSD and 16GB DDR4 SO-DIMM user-replaceable?

The 65 W USB-C power adapter is included; the single M.2 2280 NVMe slot and one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket are both accessible after removing the bottom cover for future upgrades.
