Questions about this item

Does my system need a SAS controller to use this 15000RPM drive?

Yes, the drive uses a 3Gb/s SAS interface, so a compatible SAS controller or backplane is required for operation.

Can this 3.5" SAS drive share a backplane with older 3Gb/s SAS disks?

It runs at the same 3Gb/s SAS speed, so it will work alongside existing 3Gb/s SAS drives on the same backplane.
