3.5 inch SAS hard drive with hot-swap tray

DELL

DELL 146GB 15000RPM 3.5 SAS 16MB XK111 internal hard drive

SKU CH-2RSA-6HZF2

A 146 GB, 15 000 RPM SAS hard drive with 16 MB cache and hot-swap tray for rapid enterprise storage access

  • 146 GB capacity stores critical datasets
  • 15 000 RPM rotation delivers rapid data access
  • 16 MB cache accelerates frequent read operations
  • SAS interface enables reliable enterprise connectivity
  • Hot-swap tray allows drive replacement without downtime

Dell 146GB 15K SAS drive

This new Dell 146GB drive spins at 15,000 RPM and uses a SAS interface with a 16MB cache. It ships in a 3.5-inch form factor and includes a hot-swap tray for tool-less installation in compatible bays. The XK111 part number identifies the unit for Dell server and storage arrays.

Suits high-IOPS enterprise workloads

The 15K spindle speed and SAS signalling target transactional databases and latency-sensitive applications that need fast random access. Buyers who need larger capacity per spindle should look at something else. Systems without a SAS backplane or controller cannot use this drive.

15,000 RPM spindle speed decides fit

The rotation rate is the single specification that determines whether this drive meets the performance envelope. Only workloads that justify 15K mechanics and can supply a SAS connection should select this part.

Questions about this item

Which capacity should I choose for a performance-oriented server array?

This drive provides 146 GB of storage and spins at 15 000 RPM with a 16 MB cache, a combination aimed at high-throughput workloads.

What does the 15 000 RPM speed deliver in a live system?

The 15 000 RPM rotation reduces rotational latency and raises sustained data rates compared to slower enterprise drives.

Which SAS standard does the drive use and what throughput ceiling does it impose?

The drive connects via a SAS interface; the bus specification governs the maximum signal rate the controller can achieve.
