Dell 12 TB NL SAS hard drive

This Dell 161-BCJW drive provides 12 TB of storage with a 7.2 k RPM spindle and a 256 MB cache. The 3.5 inch form factor uses 512e sector formatting and a SAS interface for hot-plug installation in compatible Dell servers. It is built for nearline workloads that demand high capacity and reliable sequential throughput.

Verify SAS backplane and hot-plug support

Confirm that your server chassis accepts 3.5 inch SAS drives and that the backplane or controller supports 12 Gbps SAS signalling. Check that the drive tray or caddy matches the Dell hot-plug mounting system used in your specific server model. Ensure the RAID controller or HBA firmware recognises 512e sector geometry before adding the drive to an array. Buyers needing a different interface or a smaller form factor should look elsewhere.
