Compatible Dell Inspiron models

This genuine Dell 3D RealSense web camera module fits Inspiron 15 models 5559, 5548 and 3558. It is a direct replacement for the original Intel TrueSense 3D camera option supplied by Dell. The part number is WGPKM. Buyers who need a standard 2D webcam or a different camera module for another laptop series should look elsewhere.

Critical compatibility check

This module works only on systems that were originally configured with the Intel TrueSense 3D camera option. Dell offered these Inspiron 15 models with multiple camera choices, so the part number WGPKM must match the one on the existing module. Ordering without verifying the original specification will result in an incompatible part.

Installation notes

The camera module installs inside the laptop lid assembly, requiring partial disassembly of the display bezel and hinge area. The fragile ribbon cable and connector are the most common points of damage during replacement. Take care to route the cable exactly as the original was routed to avoid pinching or stress on the connector.

Questions about this item

What does the 3D RealSense label mean once this camera is installed in my Inspiron 15?

It provides depth-sensing and facial-recognition features through the Intel TrueSense 3D camera option originally offered on these models.

Which interface does the WGPKM module use and what does it limit in practice?

The module connects via the laptop's internal camera header, limiting use to systems factory-equipped with the Intel TrueSense 3D camera option.

What physical mounting does the WGPKM need to fit inside an Inspiron 15 3558, 5548 or 5559?

It mounts in the existing display-bezel camera cavity and uses the original screw points and ribbon-cable routing of those chassis.
