DELL 407-BBOP SFP+ 10GbE Transceiver

This DELL 407-BBOP module is a single-mode SFP+ transceiver designed for 10GbE long-reach links. It operates at a 1310nm wavelength with a rated reach of 10KM over duplex fibre. The part is supplied new and intended for network equipment with SFP+ ports.

Suited for 10GbE long-reach fibre links

Network engineers extending 10GbE connections across campus or metro fibre will find this transceiver matches the 1310nm 10KM specification. It is not for short-range multimode links, copper direct-attach cables, or any link budget outside the stated reach and wavelength.

1310nm wavelength and 10KM reach decide fit

The single specification that determines compatibility is the 1310nm wavelength paired with a 10KM distance rating. Match these two values exactly to the switch port optics and the installed fibre plant before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the 407-BBOP SFP+ transceiver operate at 10Gbps when installed in an older switch that only supports 1GbE SFP ports?

The 407-BBOP is a 10GbE SFP+ module; it requires an SFP+ port that negotiates 10Gbps and will not link at 1GbE in a legacy SFP-only slot.

How can I confirm the 407-BBOP is transmitting at the specified 1310nm wavelength after installation?

Check the switch or router interface diagnostics; the DOM read-out should report a TX wavelength of 1310nm and a received optical power level within the LR specification.

Does the 407-BBOP package include the LC duplex patch cables needed for a 10KM single-mode fibre run?

The transceiver ships as a standalone module; LC duplex single-mode patch cables for the 10KM link must be purchased separately.
