Socket 1156 desktop motherboard for Dell Inspiron 660 and Vostro 270S systems
This Dell 478Vn motherboard uses the LGA 1156 socket and is built specifically for the Inspiron 660 and Vostro 270S desktop series. It serves as a direct replacement board for those OEM systems. Buyers needing a board for a different chassis or a newer CPU generation cannot use this part.
The board follows Dell’s proprietary mounting pattern and front-panel header arrangement for the Inspiron 660 and Vostro 270S cases. Standard rear I/O cutouts align with the original chassis back panel. Builders using a non-Dell case or a custom front-panel connector will find the pinout and screw holes incompatible.
The single specification that decides fit is the LGA 1156 socket, which accepts only first-generation Core i3, i5 and i7 processors. No later Intel desktop CPUs will install in this board. If the upgrade path requires a newer socket, this motherboard is not the correct part.

The board uses the LGA 1156 socket, so it accepts compatible Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 CPUs from the Lynnfield or Clarkdale families.
Yes, the 478Vn is the direct replacement for the original board in those models and matches the OEM mounting points and I/O shield.
Align the board with the chassis standoffs, secure it with screws, then reconnect the front-panel header, CPU fan and power cables — forgetting the four-pin CPU power plug is the common oversight.
