Adds two 10GBase-T RJ-45 ports to a server via a PCI Express plug-in card
This Dell 540-BBGU adapter adds two 10GBase-T RJ-45 ports through a PCI Express slot. It uses the Broadcom 57810 controller and is designed for twisted-pair cabling in server environments.
Server builders who need copper-based 10 GbE connectivity for existing Cat6a or Cat7 infrastructure will find this plug-in card a direct fit. It is not suited for SFP+ fibre deployments, laptop upgrades or desktop motherboards lacking a full-height PCIe slot.
The card provides exactly two twisted-pair ports running at 10 Gb/s each. If the deployment requires a different port count, fibre media or a form factor other than a standard plug-in card, this model will not match the requirement.

The 540-BBGU is a plug-in card with two 10GBase-T ports that draws power from the PCI Express slot, so sustained heat output depends on server airflow and load.
The 540-BBGU needs a free PCI Express slot and two RJ-45 cables for its 10GBase-T twisted-pair links.
The 540-BBGU uses 10GBase-T over twisted pair, so link speed with legacy gear follows the Ethernet autonegotiation rules of the connected switch.
