Dual-port SFP+ 10GbE plug-in card with Broadcom 57412 controller for server networking
The Dell 540-BBUN adds two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to a server through a PCI Express slot. Each port accepts an SFP+ optical transceiver for fibre connectivity. The card is built for installation in compatible server chassis.
The adapter connects to the host system via a PCI Express bus, so available lane width and generation on the motherboard determine the maximum practical throughput. A slot with insufficient lanes or an older generation will cap the realised bandwidth below the 10GbE line rate. Optical fibre media is required; copper direct-attach cables are not supported by the SFP+ ports.
The card provides exactly two SFP+ ports, making it suitable for servers that need a redundant link or a small aggregation group. Buyers who need more than two 10GbE connections from a single add-in card must select a different adapter with a higher port count.

This 540-BBUN model provides two SFP+ ports on one PCI Express card, so you get dual 10GbE links without occupying a second slot.
Each port supports 10GBase-X optical fibre, giving up to 10 Gbps per port for high-throughput server workloads.
The card installs in a standard PCI Express slot; the host interface is PCI Express, and each SFP+ port is capped at 10 Gbps by the 10GBase-X media.
