Dual-port 10Gbps SFP+ adapter using Intel 82599ES controller on PCIe 2.0 x8
The Intel E10G42BTDA is a PCI Express 2.0 x8 network card built around the 82599ES controller. It delivers two SFP+ ports running at 10Gbps each for servers and workstations that need high-throughput Ethernet connectivity.
This card replaces older single-port 10GbE adapters or 1GbE NICs when a second 10Gbps link is required for redundancy, link aggregation or separate traffic planes. The jump is worth it when workloads saturate a single 10Gbps path or demand IEEE 802.3ad LACP bonding.
Each port accepts standard SFP+ transceivers or DAC cables, giving flexibility across short-reach and long-reach optics. The x8 PCIe 2.0 interface provides enough bandwidth for both ports at line rate, while the 82599ES handles VLAN tagging, priority queuing and MACsec offload in hardware.

The adapter uses a PCI Express 2.0 x8 interface and needs a slot wired for at least x8 electrical lanes.
After seating the card, the Intel 82599ES controller needs the correct kernel or OS driver loaded before the SFP+ ports will link.
Each of the two SFP+ cages accepts standard SFP+ transceivers or direct-attach cables, which can be swapped independently when media changes.
