16" mobile workstation with Core Ultra 9

The Dell Pro Max MB16250 is a 16.0 inch mobile workstation built around the Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX processor with a 5.50 GHz turbo frequency and an integrated NPU for AI workloads. It ships with 64 GB of DDR5 memory and a 1 TB SSD running Windows 11 Pro. The NVIDIA RTX PRO 3000 GPU provides 12 GB of GDDR7 video memory for professional graphics tasks.

Thermals and acoustics under load

The 6-cell lithium-ion battery weighs 13.40 oz and supports extended sessions away from a power outlet. A 120 Hz FHD+ display running at 1920 x 1200 keeps motion smooth without pushing the cooling system harder than typical office or content-creation loads. The 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet and Wi-Fi 7 adapters maintain network throughput without adding audible fan activity during normal use.

Magnetite chassis with Thunderbolt 5 and HDMI

The Magnetite finish covers a chassis measuring 14.2 inches wide, 10.2 inches deep and 1.22 inches high, weighing 5.62 lb. Two Thunderbolt 5 ports and one Thunderbolt 4 port handle high-speed peripherals and external displays, while a single HDMI port and an RJ-45 jack cover legacy video and wired networking. An 8 megapixel webcam supports clear video calls without an external camera.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 64GB DDR5 memory and what step is commonly missed?

The 64GB DDR5 is factory-installed and not user-upgradable; the step often missed is verifying the total 64GB appears in Windows 11 Pro before deploying workloads.

What maintenance will the 6-cell 13.40 oz lithium-ion battery need later?

The 6-cell lithium-ion battery is internal; plan for a Dell service replacement once runtime drops below your mobility threshold, typically after several hundred charge cycles.

Which limit appears first on the Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX during sustained 5.50 GHz turbo loads?

The CPU thermal throttle engages first under continuous 5.50 GHz turbo, reducing clocks before the NVIDIA RTX PRO 3000 12 GB GDDR7 hits its own power ceiling.
