Dell 740Y7 300Gb SAS Drive

Suits servers needing hot-swap SAS storage

This drive fits administrators maintaining Dell PowerVault arrays or other SAS-equipped servers that require a 10000 RPM spindle. Buyers who need larger capacity, solid-state speed, or a different interface should look at alternative drives that match those requirements.

10000 RPM spindle speed

The 10000 RPM rotation rate is the single specification that determines whether this drive delivers the random-access performance your workload expects. Verify that your controller and backplane support this speed before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How much usable space does the 300 GB capacity provide in a server RAID array?

Usable space depends on the RAID level configured; the drive presents 300 GB raw to the controller.

What does the SAS 6 Gbit/s interface limit in real use?

The 6 Gbit/s SAS link caps maximum sequential throughput at the interface speed.

Will the included tray fit a standard 2.5-inch drive bay?

The drive ships with a Dell hot-swap tray designed for 2.5-inch Powervault bays.
