Dell 7YX58 600GB 10K SAS Drive

This new Dell 7YX58 is a 600GB 2.5-inch internal hard drive spinning at 10000RPM with a 64MB cache. It connects via a SAS 6Gb/s interface and ships with a Dell tray for direct installation into compatible bays. The drive carries the manufacturer model number ST600MM0006.

Suits Dell R-Series Servers Needing 10K SAS

This drive is built for Dell R-series servers that accept 2.5-inch SAS drives with a 6Gb/s interface and the supplied tray. Systems requiring a different physical size, a slower rotational speed, or a larger capacity will not match this specific unit. Buyers needing an interface other than SAS should look elsewhere.

SAS 6Gb/s Interface and 10000RPM Speed

The single specification that decides fit is the SAS 6Gb/s interface combined with 10000RPM performance. Your server backplane and controller must support this exact interface speed and form factor for the drive to function correctly. Verify both requirements before purchase.

What physical space and tray does the 2.5-inch drive with Dell tray require?

How is the drive installed in a Dell R-series server, and what step is often missed?
