A 960 GB SAS solid-state drive in a 2.5 inch form factor with a Dell caddy for G14 to G16 PowerEdge servers
This Dell 960 GB solid-state drive uses a SAS 12 Gb/s interface and a 2.5-inch form factor. It is built for read-intensive workloads on Dell PowerEdge servers from generations 14 through 16. The drive ships new and includes a compatible Dell caddy for direct installation. It targets IT teams who need reliable flash storage in supported rack and tower platforms.
The 960 GB capacity suits boot volumes, application drives and mixed read-heavy datasets. As a read-intensive SSD it delivers consistent performance for sustained reads but offers lower write endurance than mixed-use or write-intensive models. Workloads with heavy sustained writes such as database logging or video ingest will reach the drive’s endurance limit sooner. Buyers who need higher write durability should consider a different endurance class.
The supplied caddy matches the drive bays on listed PowerEdge models from the R240 through the R960 families. A SAS 12 Gb/s backplane or controller is required to operate the drive at its rated interface speed. The 2.5-inch form factor leaves larger 3.5-inch bays free for other uses. Systems without SAS infrastructure or outside the supported generation range cannot use this drive.

No published specifications for this item yet.
The drive uses a 12Gb/s SAS link that is backward compatible with 6Gb/s backplanes, so it will operate at the lower speed in an R640 without any configuration change.
Check the iDRAC storage inventory or the PERC controller BIOS; the drive should appear as a 960GB SAS SSD with a healthy status and no media errors reported.
The product description states it ships with a compatible Dell caddy for the listed G14-G16 servers, which includes the R750, so no separate tray purchase is required.
