What this adapter is and who needs it

The DELL 9MT5R is a 65W USB-C AC adapter supplied new with a 1 meter power cord. It accepts 120 V AC and 230 V AC input and delivers 5 V at 3.25 A, 9 V, 15 V, or 20 V output through a three-prong plug. The unit is finished in black and replaces the original charger for the listed Dell laptops and Chromebooks.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

This adapter suits owners of compatible Inspiron, Latitude, and Chromebook models who need a spare or replacement 65W charger. Buyers whose devices require more than 65W of power, a proprietary barrel connector, or a different voltage profile cannot use this unit. It also does not serve systems that charge exclusively through a dedicated docking station.

The specification that decides fit

The decisive specification is the 65W USB-C power delivery with 5 V, 9 V, 15 V, and 20 V output steps. If the target laptop matches the listed models and charges via USB-C at 65W, this adapter will work; otherwise it will not.

Questions about this item

What type of wall socket does the 9MT5R adapter require?

It uses a three-prong plug that accepts 120 V AC or 230 V AC input.

Will this 65W USB-C adapter charge a Latitude 5420 that originally shipped with a barrel connector?

The Latitude 5420 is listed as compatible, so the USB-C port on that model will accept power from this adapter.

How can I confirm the adapter is delivering power once connected?

The laptop's charging indicator will light up and the battery icon will show it is receiving 65W over USB-C.
