3 TB SAS 6 Gb/s enterprise drive

This 3.5 inch internal hard drive delivers 3000 GB of storage on a SAS 6 Gb/s interface spinning at 7200 RPM with a 64 MB buffer. It is built as an original Dell part numbered 9SM260-150 and ST33000650SS for direct replacement in compatible systems.

Suits PowerEdge servers needing a 3.5 inch SAS drive

The drive fits PowerEdge models R310, R320, R410, R415, R420, R510, R515, R520, R610, R620, R710, R720, R720xd, T310, T320, T410, T420, T610, T620 and T710. Buyers who require a different interface, a smaller form factor or capacities beyond 3000 GB should consider other options.

SAS 6 Gb/s interface decides compatibility

The single specification that determines fit is the 3.5 inch SAS 6 Gb/s connection; only systems with a matching backplane and controller will recognise the drive. Verify that your server lists the 9SM260-150 part number before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will this 3.5in SAS 6Gb/s drive work in a PowerEdge R710 that currently uses 3Gb/s SAS drives?

Yes — the 6Gb/s interface is backward compatible with 3Gb/s backplanes in the R710, so the drive will operate at 3Gb/s without any configuration changes.

How can I confirm the drive is running at 7200RPM with its 64MB cache after installation?

Check the drive’s reported RPM and cache size in the server’s RAID controller BIOS or iDRAC storage inventory; both values should match 7200RPM and 64MB.

Does the 9SM260-150 ship with a 3.5in drive tray or caddy for the PowerEdge T410?

The drive is supplied as a bare LFF mechanism; a Dell 3.5in hot-plug tray for the T410 must be purchased separately if the bay requires one.
