DELL 670 W Hot-plug Redundant PSU

This Dell A670P-00 unit delivers 670 watts of hot-plug redundant power for PowerEdge 1950 and PowerVault NX1950 servers. It is built for administrators who need a direct-replacement module to maintain uptime in supported Dell rack systems. The supply installs without tools and works with the chassis management features of the 1950 platform. Buyers running different server models or requiring higher wattage should verify compatibility before ordering.

Thermals noise and power draw

The 670 W rating defines the maximum continuous output available to the system. Internal fans adjust speed based on load and inlet temperature to keep components within thermal limits. Acoustic output rises with fan speed under heavy demand but remains within the design envelope for the 1950 chassis. Power draw at the wall will vary with actual server configuration and workload.

Questions about this item

How is the 670 watt hot-plug power supply installed in a PowerEdge 1950, and what step is often missed?

Slide the unit into the bay until the latch clicks, then verify the green LED confirms both AC input and DC output — skipping the LED check is the common error.

What maintenance or replacement will the Dell 0D9761 unit need over time?

The internal fan and electrolytic capacitors wear out; plan to replace the supply when the fan noise rises or the system logs a power-supply fault.
