Hot-swap 870 W power supply for Dell PowerEdge R710 and T610 servers, accepting 100-240 V input at 12 A
This unit is a Dell A870P-S0 rated at 870 W and designed for hot-swap replacement in Dell PowerEdge R710 and T610 servers. It accepts a universal 100-240 V input at up to 12 A and operates on 50-60 Hz mains. The supply is intended for IT teams maintaining these specific rack and tower platforms.
The 870 W maximum output defines the thermal load the server cooling must handle under full utilisation. Fan speed and acoustic output are managed by the host chassis rather than the supply itself. Input current reaches 12 A at the low end of the voltage range.
This power supply fits only Dell PowerEdge R710 and T610 systems that use the A870P-S0 form factor and part numbers such as 7NVX8, PT164 or VT6G4. It will not work in other Dell servers, workstations or third-party chassis. Builders needing a standard ATX or redundant supply for a different platform must choose another model.

Slide the unit into the bay until the latch clicks, then verify the amber and green LEDs both illuminate; the missed step is forgetting to engage the release lever fully so the supply seats on the backplane connector.
The internal fan is the only moving part; plan to replace the supply when fan noise rises or the amber fault LED stays lit, as Dell does not sell a separate fan module for this 870 W unit.
The 870 W maximum output is the hard ceiling; sustained draw at that level will trip the over-current protection before any thermal limit is reached, shutting the supply down until the load drops.
