Intel Ultra 9 290HX mobile workstation

The Alienware 16X Aurora is a 16-inch laptop built around the Intel Ultra 9 290HX processor with 24 cores and 32 GB of DDR5 memory at 5600 MHz. A 1 TB solid-state drive and dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics with 8 GB GDDR7 video memory handle modern games and heavy content creation. Windows 11 Home ships pre-installed in an Interstellar Indigo chassis.

240 Hz 3K display with G-SYNC cooling

The 16-inch 2560 x 1600 panel runs at 240 Hz with 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage and NVIDIA G-SYNC for tear-free motion. ComfortView Plus reduces blue-light output during long sessions. The thermal solution manages the 24-core CPU and RTX 5070 GPU under sustained load while keeping fan noise controlled for typical indoor use.

Wi-Fi 7 and biometric camera bundle

MediaTek Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth provide low-latency wireless connectivity for competitive play and video calls. A 1080p FHD RGB-IR HDR webcam enables Windows Hello facial recognition and clear streaming. Dual-array microphones and Realtek-tuned stereo speakers improve voice clarity. An AlienFX RGB backlit keyboard and Precision touchpad complete the input package.

Questions about this item

How do I install additional DDR5 memory up to the 64 GB maximum and which step is often missed?

Remove the base cover, insert the DDR5 SO-DIMM at 5600 MHz into the empty slot, then re-enable the memory remap option in BIOS so the full capacity is recognised.

Which component will need replacement first during long-term ownership?

The 1 TB PCIe SSD has a finite write endurance; plan to replace it once the drive health indicator approaches the wear limit.

What thermal limit appears first when the RTX 5070 and Ultra 9 290HX run sustained loads?

The GPU core temperature hits its throttle point before the CPU, causing the 240 Hz panel to drop frames until the vapour-chamber cooler catches up.
