Quad-port 1Gb server NIC

The DELL Broadcom 5719 provides four RJ45 ports in a full-height bracket for rack-mount servers. It adds high-density gigabit connectivity to compatible PowerEdge platforms. The adapter suits administrators expanding LAN capacity without consuming extra slots.

PCIe full-height form factor

This card requires a full-height PCIe slot inside a supported Dell PowerEdge chassis. It fits models such as the R240, R340, R440, R540, R640, R650, R740, R740XD, R750, R760, T140, T440 and XR series. Builders using low-profile or half-height enclosures cannot install it.

Rack-mount deployment ready

The adapter integrates directly into validated PowerEdge configurations for immediate network expansion. It frees remaining PCIe lanes for storage controllers or accelerators. Buyers needing fibre-channel or 10GbE connectivity must select a different adapter.

Questions about this item

What real throughput can I expect from the 1 Gb ports in a server?

Each port delivers up to 1 Gbps full-duplex, so the four ports combined can move up to 4 Gbps of aggregated traffic when the server workload uses all queues.

Which bus standard does the 5719 use and what bandwidth does that provide?

The adapter uses a PCIe 2.0 x4 interface, giving a 20 Gbps ceiling that is well above the 4 Gbps total from the four 1 Gb ports.

What slot and bracket does the card need to install in a PowerEdge chassis?

It is a full-height PCIe card and includes a full-height bracket, so it fits any full-height riser slot in the compatible PowerEdge models.
