Universal USB-C Docking Station

The Dell D6000 adds video outputs, networking, USB ports and audio to any laptop equipped with USB-C or USB-A. It supports up to three 4K displays or a single 5K screen using DisplayLink technology. The compact black chassis measures 1.20 by 3.10 by 6.60 inches and weighs .84 lb. Compatibility spans selected Inspiron, Latitude, Vostro and XPS models including the 13 3379 2-in-1, 14 7460, 15 7567 and 13 9365 2-in-1.

Bundled Connectivity Changes

One HDMI and two DisplayPort connectors enable multi-monitor productivity without extra adapters. Three SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports plus a USB-C port and a USB host port attach peripherals while a PowerShare port charges phones even when the dock is off. Gigabit Ethernet replaces unreliable Wi-Fi for stable cloud access and large file transfers.

Single Deciding Specification

The dock delivers up to 60 W of power over USB-C, so laptops requiring higher wattage will not charge from this unit. Buyers whose notebooks need more than 60 W must keep their original charger connected. Systems without USB-C or USB-A ports cannot use the dock at all.

Questions about this item

Does the USB-C PowerShare port on the D6000 need a firmware update later to keep charging phones?

The dock uses DisplayLink technology that receives driver updates through Windows Update or the Dell support site; no separate firmware tool is required for the PowerShare function.

What limits three 4K displays at 60 Hz on the D6000?

The DisplayLink chipset compresses video over the USB 3.0 link, so sustained 60 Hz on three 4K screens depends on host CPU headroom and available USB bandwidth rather than a fixed dock limit.

How warm does the D6000 get and does it make noise when driving three monitors all day?

The unit has no fan; its aluminium case acts as a heatsink and stays warm to the touch during extended multi-monitor use but remains silent.
