Latitude 7490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. It combines a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor with 8GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 touchscreen display.

Suits mobile professionals needing touch input

This device suits professionals who want a compact touchscreen notebook for office applications and video calls. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance for creative workloads or gaming should look elsewhere. The integrated graphics share system memory, limiting 3D capability. Users requiring more than 8GB of RAM will find the capacity fixed.

Quad-core i7-8650U with 8 MB cache

The processor is a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U with 8 MB of L3 cache. This CPU specification determines how the laptop handles multi-threaded business tasks and responsiveness. All other components support this processing core.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 512GB SSD in the Latitude 7490 and what step is often missed?

The SSD fits in the internal M.2 slot; the step often missed is re-enabling the drive in the BIOS after the physical swap.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB memory need later?

The 8GB is soldered to the board so it cannot be upgraded; plan for a future system replacement if workloads grow.

What limit appears first on the Intel UHD Graphics 620 during sustained use?

Shared system memory becomes the bottleneck, capping frame rates once the 8GB pool fills with texture data.
