Dell H5WGN 900GB SAS drive

The Dell H5WGN is a 900GB 2.5 inch internal hard drive spinning at 10000RPM with a 64MB buffer. It uses a SAS interface and arrives new in retail or OEM packing. This unit includes a tray for direct installation into compatible Dell PowerEdge and PowerVault servers.

SAS server storage upgrade

The SAS connection requires a compatible controller or backplane able to handle 6Gbits throughput. The 2.5 inch form factor fits hot-swap bays designed for this size and the included tray secures the drive. Buyers needing a different interface or larger capacity should consider other options.

Questions about this item

How long does the 10000 RPM spindle maintain throughput before thermal limits slow it down?

The 10000 RPM spindle and 64 MB buffer are designed for sustained server workloads; thermal throttling is managed by the host PowerEdge or PowerVault chassis airflow.

What noise and heat levels should I expect from the 2.5 inch SAS drive running continuously in a server bay?

Acoustic output and heat dissipation are within Dell enterprise specifications for 2.5 inch SAS drives; exact decibel and watt figures depend on the specific PowerEdge or PowerVault enclosure configuration.
