Dell 960GB 12Gbps SAS RI TLC 2.5 SSD

This Dell H8X3X enterprise solid-state drive provides 960GB of capacity through a 12Gbps SAS interface. It uses read-intensive TLC NAND in a 2.5-inch form factor for server deployment. The component carries part numbers H8X3X and KPM5XRUG960G.

Suited for read-heavy Dell PowerEdge workloads

The drive fits Dell PowerEdge rack, tower and modular servers including R630, R730, R740, R750, T340, T640, MX740c and MX840c models. It also supports MD1400, MD1420 and ME4 series storage arrays. Buyers needing write-intensive endurance or a different interface should consider other options.

12Gbps SAS interface compatibility

Operation requires a controller or backplane that supports 12Gbps SAS signalling. The drive will not function on ports limited to 6Gbps or on interfaces using other protocols. Verify the host system lists SAS 12Gbps support before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the TLC NAND in the 960GB SAS drive require replacement after a certain write volume?

The drive uses read-intensive TLC NAND rated for lower write endurance than mixed-use models; plan replacement once the rated drive writes per day are reached.

What limit appears first when the H8X3X runs sustained writes at 12Gbps SAS?

The read-intensive TLC design hits its write-endurance ceiling before the 12Gbps SAS interface saturates during continuous heavy write workloads.

How much heat and power does the 2.5-inch SSD produce when running all day in a PowerEdge server?

As a low-power 2.5-inch SAS SSD it generates minimal heat and draws modest power, allowing dense deployment in PowerEdge chassis without extra cooling.
