Power specification

This 240-watt AC adapter delivers 19.5 volts at 12.3 amps through a 7.4 mm by 5.0 mm barrel connector. It replaces Dell chargers rated at 130, 150 and 180 watts for compatible G-series, Alienware and Precision laptops.

Replacement scope

The unit covers models that originally shipped with lower-wattage bricks, so the upgrade is worthwhile when the original adapter cannot sustain peak loads or has failed. It is not suitable for systems requiring more than 240 watts or a different connector size.

Connector constraint

The fixed 7.4 mm by 5.0 mm tip limits use to Dell laptops designed for that barrel diameter. Worldwide input of 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 hertz allows travel use, but the single output voltage prevents charging devices that need other voltages.

Questions about this item

Does the 7.4mm x 5.0mm barrel connector fit my Dell G15 5510 charging port?

Yes, the 7.4mm x 5.0mm round tip matches the DC power jack on the listed G15 5510 and other compatible Dell G-series models.

How do I install the charger, and what common mistake should I avoid?

Plug the AC cord into the brick, connect the barrel tip firmly into the laptop port, then plug the mains lead into a 100-240V outlet; the frequent error is leaving the barrel partially seated, which prevents the 19.5V 12.3A handshake.

When will the AC cable or barrel tip need replacement?

Replace the cord if the insulation frays near the strain relief or the 7.4mm tip becomes loose; the brick itself is rated for continuous 240W output with short-circuit protection.
