Questions about this item

Does the 2.5" SAS drive ship with a caddy that fits PowerEdge R610 and R720 bays?

Yes, the drive includes a Dell PowerEdge server caddy that matches the 2.5-inch hot-plug trays used in R610, R720 and the other listed models.

What is the correct SAS connector orientation when sliding the caddy into a PowerEdge R420 backplane?

Align the SAS connector on the drive with the backplane port, then push the caddy firmly until the latch clicks; the drive seats in one motion without separate cable routing.

How often should the 64 MB cache and 10000 RPM spindle be monitored for predictive failure alerts?

Enable SMART monitoring in the RAID controller and review reallocated-sector counts and seek-error rates monthly; replace the drive if either attribute trends upward.
