Dell Inspiron 15 3520 business laptop

The Dell Inspiron 15 3520 is a new 15.6 inch FHD laptop powered by a 12th Gen Intel Core i3-1215U processor with six cores and eight threads. It comes with 32GB DDR4 memory and a 2TB PCIe SSD running Windows 11 Home. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. This configuration suits office workers and students who need ample memory and storage for everyday productivity.

Sustained load behaviour with Intel UHD Graphics

The 1.2 GHz base clock can reach 4.4 GHz turbo frequency across six cores and 10 MB cache during extended workloads. Integrated graphics share system memory, so prolonged heavy compute or video tasks may throttle once thermal limits are reached. The 720p HD camera and Wi-Fi with Bluetooth remain active during long sessions. Buyers who need discrete GPU performance for rendering or gaming should consider a different class of machine.

Installation notes and common issues

The chassis measures 14.11 x 9.27 x .83 inches and weighs 3.65 pounds in black. Ports include one USB 2.0 Type-A, two USB Type-A 5Gbps, HDMI 1.4 limited to 1920x1080 at 60Hz, a headset jack, power jack and SD card reader. There is no backlit keyboard or fingerprint reader. The original seal is opened by engineers for the memory and storage upgrade, so buyers who want an untouched factory seal should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i3-1215U get when the laptop runs all day?

The 6-core i3-1215U has a 1.2 GHz base and 4.4 GHz turbo, so sustained loads push the integrated Intel UHD Graphics and the 15.6 inch FHD panel within a 0.83 inch thick chassis weighing 3.65 pounds; fan noise rises under load but stays typical for a thin business notebook.

Which cables or peripherals must I already own to use the ports on this 3520?

The laptop provides one USB 2.0 Type-A, two USB 5 Gbps Type-A, one HDMI 1.4 limited to 1920x1080 at 60 Hz, an SD card slot and a combo headset jack, so bring any USB-A devices, an HDMI cable for external monitors and wired headphones with a 4-pole plug.

Will my older USB-A keyboard, mouse and 1080p monitor work straight away with this Windows 11 machine?

Yes — the three USB-A ports accept legacy peripherals directly, HDMI 1.4 drives a 1920x1080 60 Hz display without adapters, and Windows 11 Home includes drivers for standard HID and display devices.
