Ready for work and study

This Dell Inspiron 15 ships with Windows 11 Home, a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1235U processor, 16GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 15.6 inch touch display runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60 Hz. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics handle everyday visual tasks. The Carbon Black chassis weighs 3.7lb.

Ports and wireless basics

A single USB 2.0 port, HDMI output and an SD card reader provide essential wired connections. RTL8821CE Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 cover wireless peripherals and networks. The 65W power supply charges the 3-cell 41 WHr battery. No optical drive is fitted, keeping the profile at 0.7 inches thick.

Sustained daily workloads

The 10-core CPU reaches 4.4 GHz turbo for bursts, while the 12MB cache helps maintain responsiveness during extended multitasking. Integrated graphics share system memory, so heavy 3D rendering or modern gaming will be limited. The 1TB NVMe SSD keeps boot and application load times consistent over long sessions. Fan noise and surface temperature rise under continuous load but remain within typical ultrabook limits.

Questions about this item

Does the i5-1235U throttle under sustained multi-core workloads?

The 10-core, 12-thread processor reaches 4.4 GHz turbo, but the 41 WHr battery and 65 W power supply constrain how long full boost can be maintained.

How loud and hot does the chassis get during all-day use?

Integrated Intel UHD graphics and a 60 Hz panel keep heat output modest; the carbon-black plastic body stays warm rather than hot under typical office loads.

Which peripherals must I already own to use every port?

You need a USB-A 2.0 device, an HDMI display or capture device, and full-size SD cards to exercise each physical connector.
