A 15.6" LCD ribbon cable for Dell Inspiron 15Z 5523 non-touchscreen models, part 940G9
This original Dell 940G9 video cable connects the motherboard to the 15.6 inch non-touchscreen LCD panel inside an Inspiron 15Z 5523 laptop. It restores the display signal path when the original ribbon is damaged or worn. The part is a direct replacement for Dell part number 50.4VQ05.021.
As a passive flat ribbon, the cable draws no power and generates no heat or noise during operation. It simply routes the video data lines between the system board and the display assembly. Normal use places no thermal load on the chassis and requires no active cooling.
Installation requires partial disassembly of the Inspiron 15Z 5523 chassis to access the display hinge area and motherboard connector. The cable is keyed for the non-touchscreen LCD assembly only and will not fit touchscreen variants. Builders needing a touchscreen-compatible ribbon or a different screen size cannot use this part.

Remove the bezel and keyboard deck, feed the 940G9 cable along the original path behind the hinge brackets, and secure the retention clips before reassembling; the step most people miss is re-engaging the tiny ZIF lock on the motherboard connector.
The cable itself has no scheduled replacement interval; inspect the ribbon for creasing or connector corrosion each time the display assembly is opened, and replace only if flickering or artefacts appear.
Intermittent flicker or horizontal lines when the lid passes the halfway open point, caused by conductor fatigue in the ribbon's bend zone.
